Coldest Spring

By Audrey M. Roy Greenfeld, Daniel Roy Greenfeld

Vetch is sixteen, a charity squire with no title and no sword of his own. He is also the only person in Ambria asking whether the Dark Lord has been telling the truth.

The mages will not answer him. They would rather lock him up. So Vetch and his friends run for Pythia, the town of the Oracle, through mountains that winter is already closing.

The Oracle does not give answers away. Each one costs ten years of Vetch's life.

On the road they take a prisoner: Chione, a daughter of the winter god Boreas, who tried to kill them and who will die if she stays in the warm lands. She is sharp, beautiful, and impossible to trust.

To save Ambria, Vetch must learn what the mages are hiding, and decide how much of his life the truth is worth.

Book three of the Ambria series.
